Aras an Uachtarain

In 1994, Rainey successfully installed the Lightning Protection (LP) system at Aras an Uachtarain, which stands as one among numerous historic and iconic buildings in Ireland where we have implemented such systems.

Our collaboration extends to working closely with the Office of Public Works (OPW) and engaging directly with clients to ensure the design of suitable lightning protection systems that harmonize with the visual aesthetics of the buildings. We understand the importance of preserving the architectural integrity and appearance of these significant structures.

To achieve this delicate balance, we employ various techniques. For instance, we meticulously match the RAL color of our tapes to seamlessly blend with the building’s exterior. Additionally, we strategically position downtapes behind drainpipes, minimizing their visibility. Moreover, we opt for lower-height but more numerous air rod finials, further reducing the visual impact of the lightning protection system. Our aim is to ensure that the system remains virtually invisible, preserving the overall visual appeal of the building.

By employing these meticulous design strategies, Rainey strikes a harmonious balance between safeguarding the historic and iconic buildings of Ireland and maintaining their visual allure.
